Maureen Connolly PlowmanFor the past few years I have been a Person-centred and Cognitive Behavioral Counsellor, while continuing to lecture part-time in Literature and Creative Writing at Cardiff University where I have worked since 1991. As a writer and poet, I encourage clients to consider the benefits of keeping journals and of imaginative writing. I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education as well as an M.A. I worked as a schoolteacher before specializing in Adult Learning. During study for the Diploma in Counselling (University of Wales, Newport), I trained at a local GP practice. I have also worked at Newport's Contact Centre, helping separated and divorced parents to continue to see their children. Since 2001 I have worked as a Home Start volunteer/ counsellor, visiting families with under school age children needing support for their emotional and practical worries and problems. I have also trained as a relationship counsellor with Marriage Care and have worked at the Newport office of that organization since 2005, as well as seeing couples privately. I am a Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. For further information, visit my website at: www.mcplowman.co.uk |
