JUDY EVANS

For the last 20 years I have been counselling a range of clients in a variety of settings: NHS, Further Education, BBC Helplines, voluntary sector, private practice.

I have been working as a supervisor to counsellors and supervisors for the past 15 years during which time I also established and ran regular supervision sessions for my team of careers professionals.
Throughout this period I have also been working as a careers consultant, helping people to work through such issues as redundancy, unemployment, barriers to progression, lack of job satisfaction, bullying and harassment.

My approach

My aim is to give you, my client, my whole attention so that we can build a strong working alliance based on acceptance and trust, where you feel safe to talk freely and share your feelings and thoughts without being judged; where you can explore new ideas and ways of responding to the world which may be more helpful and rewarding for you.

Counselling is a ‘talking therapy’ – there’s no magic here. It can be hugely rewarding but it can also feel risky and is sometimes challenging. It takes courage and determination.

I have immense respect for all my clients and will try to understand your particular issues and offer you support on your ‘journey’.

The basis of my work is derived from a Humanistic (Person Centred) perspective into which I blend theory and practice from other approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
